is a neurotransmitter that sends chemical information through the brain and nervous system and is involved in regulating communication between neurons.

GABA plays an important role in preserving cognitive function and the body’s response to stress. This is done by reducing the activity of overstimulated nerve cells, thus allowing fear and anxiety to be controlled.

Effect of diet on GABA

Unlike many other dietary supplements, GABA does not occur naturally in regular foods. Some foods, including fruits, vegetables, teas and red wine, may have an effect on GABA modulation, but it is currently unclear what foods increase or decrease the effects of GABA on the brain.
